Hello: I thought I'd post 4 Farmall Auction prices from today at an Estate Auction in Edgerton Mn which is in far SW-MN.. I'll add that it was below zero F early this morning. There was 1-SM Gas, wide front with Wesendorf loader and real good rubber. Paint was nice but a little older.. $6,800.. 2ed was a S-H late model with disk brakes and live hyd. ( I can't tell if live hyd pump was factory or not). Wide front very well worn rear tires and old-old paint. A working tractor. $2,700. 3ed was an older straight M gas. Had live aftermarket hyd pump and used belly pump as resevor.. Very neat job on hyd lines and other small details. Very good paint and decals etc very good rubber. $5,700. 4th was a 450 gas.. Auction people made it clear that this 450 was completly taked apart and rebuilt.. etc etc. Great paint and minor details. Only standard drawbar..$7,700. All tractors seemed to be well taken care of. Owner was retired and had a large garage/workshop full of Many-Maintence tools common to fixeing & restoring old equipment & tractors plus a pile of discarred worn-out parts. Many people there were friends and spoke well of decesed owner.. I think the $7/bu corn prices helped too. Question:. I wondered if other $7/bu Corn-Belt areas have had higher prices for older Farmalls?? My Prices are approx and may be in error by $50 or $100.. as I didn't write anything down with temps around zero degrees... Ag Ret..

In the rural area he grew up in, the highlight of the week was Saturday when many people took a break from their work to go to town. It was on one such Saturday in the early 1940's when Sam was 16 years old that he ended up in Dennison, Kansas to watch a demonstration of a new tractor being put on by a local dealer.
