Jim, you know the answer on the timeing gear. cam/valves and pistons would be out of cink. You should be able to check this with the valve cover off and a screwdriver to check TDC. I have many F-12 and F-14. Not two will start the same. I wish they did start one 2-3 cranks I have never tryed Tom"s method of squriting gas in the carb on first start, he may have something there. Most of mine have rebuilt fuel pumps, still all different to start. I have one F-12 could have sat outdoors for 3-4 months and it will start on the fisrt or second crank with choke every time. oldrion29
