Now I know why motor oil literally ran out of the flywheel inspection cover before the overhaul. It wasn't the seal, but instead was caused by a warped rear oil seal retainer. Between every bolt hole is a deflection as if the retainer was torqued too much. Is there any way I can salvage the retainer by milling or sanding the meeting face? say 0.050"? Just before I buttoned her up to the bell housing, I saw the problem. Could have been a bad scene.
