I run a heater on the oil pan, but it doesn"t seem to help. Sometimes, it will fire and then die and then it will never start after that until it sits for a long time. If I somehow catch it on the first firing, I can sometimes keep it running, but it seems like it is a one chance deal. Gasoline will run a stream out of the carb. It has been rebuilt, but has always done this in the cold.
That's just how it is. In cold weather, the trick is to get the engine spinning over and THEN pull the choke, but only briefly. Basically, pull it out and then shove it right back in. Once the engine fires, then work the choke as needed to keep it running.
The only option is to install an engine coolant heater.
For what it's worth, the carburetor you have was built by Zenith, For IHC.

Originally the company was called the Cleveland Motor Plow Company which began in 1912, then the Cleveland Tractor Company (1917) and finally Cletrac.
