My best guess is that the key switch is at fault. The electronics will get a signal from both the ACC terminal and the on/run terminal. These two signals combined are interpreted by the system to display the run condition and provide fuel delivery. When the on/run signal is missing, the ACC signal is still there, and the system goes to ACC display. When cranking, the normal on/run signal is overwritten by the start signal. (this is just conjecture, as I do not have a schematic) Jim
