The Small block by #1 plug should have the serial number after FAA. This is the same SN as on the left seat post if the engine and tractor are mates. You can look this number up on this ste to find the year of your engine. Carburetor should have a screw on the front (near the bottom) to adjust fuel\air mixture. Turn the screw in (clockwise) to make the mixture leaner, out (counterclockwise) to make the mixture richer. Dave BN
