A few years back a friend of mine blew up his house due to a similar OOPSIE. Actually the leak was under the street, and it followed the gasline to the house under the paved driveway. By the time it reached the hole in the basement wall, it had lost most of the "gas" odor. Several of his friends had mentioned a gas smell in the house, but being a smoker, he couldn't smell it. Until one day, he lit that last cigarette - in the basement! Blew the house off the foundation - and he died due to his burns - (internal, lungs.)
