Any thing on the screen means the fluid was going through the screen bypass valve. This happens when filter is plugged or oil is cold. That is what the screen bypass is for. I would cut old filter open and take a look. It may have a lot or very little steel in it. Trick to finding out what area it is coming from is to drain each compartment into a clean white container. Most of the metal will stay in the immediate area it came from but eventually some will travel into filter.
