I'm not too shure 'bout the H, but the A generato field coils need to be grounded through the H/L/light switch. It seems that through the years all the metal to metal contact through the switch box just isnt making it. First thing to check ( and cheapest fix ) is this ground. I just ran a jumper to ground and solved most of my electric problems.
