404 distributor continued saga

Thanks for all the advice on previous post 2 weeks ago. Need some more! After changing cap, rotor, & wires I figured out I was still getting spark intermittently so I replaced points & condenser. Trying to do this step by step so as to limit parts changing and chances for screw up. Looks like I did anyway! In setting the point gap the shaft turned a few times and now the shaft has quit rotating when I turn the engne over. What"s my next step? I gather the gear is shot. So I guess I pull the whole distributor? What kind of challenge am I in for..considering I started out changing the cap because the coil nub was worn flat? Thank you all again.
