try taking compression with a warm engine . I've found a cold engine your readings are all over the map . After you take the reading , add a teaspoon of oil to the plug hole then take another reading . If your compression goes up , you have worn rings . Post what you find out A valve job can get spendy quick . They can need new valves and seats .The guides are not expensive . But you can put 400.00 in the head alone with parts and labor . Rings are about 100.00 bucks plus a gasket set . I would think your compression would be livable considering the age . Does it burn oil ?
