he'll probably need to adapt a seat to his tractor, i have massive back problems too and while i can stand to ride the old iron seats for a hour or two, then i need to get off, the big thing ive found with back issues is the back needs to be suported, not self supported on the spine, best thing ive found is a top end air ride seat for a truck, these are not only air adjustable as to ride height and firmness, but will have air support for the lumbar area, seat back angle adjustment, and adjustable arm rests, plus other features can be added, to make it not only comfortable for hours at a time but provide the ability to change the setup for relief as the day goes on, there not cheap but there sure well worth the investment and can be mounted to a flat surface
