If you are unsure of either the year or model of your tractor, you probably need to resolve that befor you go shopping. If it is a '53, it isn't a low-boy (they weren't made until '55.) Mowers don't interchange between standard Cubs and low-boys. Once you know what you have, I agree with gene b...I have a 59" Woods, but I took the casters off. It does a great jub on grass. If you have heavier stuff to cut, the 42" would be the way to go. It has heavier blades that help it to cut through brush. I have heard they still do a very good job on grass, almost finish quality cuts. Both are available new for $1200-$1500 or used from $300-$600. I paid $300 for my used one. Parts are available from Woods.
