My 1953 Super C was factory complete the last week of August 1953 and has chassis s/n 180xxx. The engine s/n is 188xxx with a spread of 8340 between the two numbers. My tractor has the original engine and chassis as it came from a neighbor and was never out of the family. It appears you have about the same spread between the two s/n's as on my Super C and think you will find it fairly close to the 8340 I noted on mine. I believe the M in the engine serial no. means "motor" but I have no documentation to substantiate that fact but makes sense to me. Your tractor was factory complete approx. 3000 units earlier then my SC. Also, there is no "G" in the engine s/n on my SC.
As far as the paint others on this forum can provide better information but it could have been painted originally at the factory as yellow for an industrial or highway use tractor. IHC did not make an industrial SC to my knowledge. I have a 1966 Farmall 140 which was originally a state of Indiana Highway Dept. tractor as the ID tags are still on the tractor and the Woods belly mower which was an original yellow tractor. The tractor was repainted red after it was acquired by the previous owner. Hope this helps, Hal.
P.S. Where in Washington are you located as I spent almost 40 years at Boeing in the Seattle area before retiring back to the family farm in Missouri.

Today's Featured Article - The Fordson F Ignition System - by Anthony West. A fellow restorer contacted me earlier this year asking for some help and advice on a model F that he was restoring. He had over a period of months spent a fair amount of his hard earned cash on replacement parts for the old "trembler" ignition. Sadly though all his efforts seemed to be a waste of time and money as he still couldn''t get the temperamental old thing to run correctly!! If i said that this was a little frustrating for him that would be "conservative" in fact the problem had reduce ... [Read Article]
