I looked at what I think is a SMTA. I am not familiar with this series but have been looking for one for some time. The id tag on this tractor had been abused some and all I can make out are the numbers 77883 followed by a capital S. I thought these numbers should be preseeded by a capital L or F. There is a TA lever, a 2 point hitch like I have seen on the 400/450 tractors, the nose cone has two holes on each side of center, a 400/4540 type lever to engage the PTO and the newer style wide front end. Are there additional ways to tell if this is an SMTA like engine casting numbers? The tractor was running but one cylinder is not firing, rear tires are poor, tin is good. Owner is elderly and said it ran good until the one cylinder dropped out. Tractor has set for 5 plus years. Any advise about this tractor is appreciated.
