This happened to me on my 300 this winter and the cause turned out to be that the pilot bearing had fallen apart and fallen down into the constant mesh gears and broke off some teeth. This was likely because I had not lined the TA housing and transmission when reassembling them and had thus damaged the bearing. I hope your fix is easier than mine turned out to be. Zach
