I would crank them back to where they were on the threads. then go a little (one turn or so) more. If they trip when hitting a rock they are good to go. if they trip on tough ground they are too loose. Some adjustment is indeed needed if they break all the time. Tired springs and some old wear will make them lazy. I can remember only one that would repeatedly trip on our cultivators. it needed 3 turns to put it right. Rear tire sweeps need more tension than 1/2 shovels near the rows. Jim
