The IH service guide should be more complete than the I&T, but keep in mind that neither manual is going to be a step-by-step "cookbook" for working on the tractor. There will be a lot of, "remove *blah*" without telling you exactly how, or what else you need to remove to get there. It was 1947 and the manual was intended for career tractor mechanics with mechanical aptitude and good "fig'r'n out" skills.
Heck, lots of farmers took these tractors apart and put them together with no manuals at all. They just kept taking bolts out until something fell off. If it wasn't the thing that needed fixin', they kept taking bolts out until the right thing fell off.
