I've been told that the chassis number will be *close* but not the same. If it were a 1939, the chassis number would match the engine number, but they pulled engines from the line for power units and spares, so they got out of sync.
The tag should say "Made in U.S.A. by International Harvester Co., Chicago IL".
Chicago isn't where the tractor was made. Chicago is where IH's headquarters were. "Made in U.S.A." not made in Chicago.
ALL the A's were made at the Louisville plant, so there is nothing special on the serial tag to say they were made there.
It's not like Super M's, which were "special" because some were made in Louisville. Even then there was only an "L" in the serial number to indicate that they were made in Louisville
