The cross-shaft under my 240U was not rusted, but eye bolt in the right arm was broken off. I was able with a center punch and penetrating oil to unscrew the stub and the eye was still there, so I had a cutoff bolt welded together to make a new one and got it back together. You could tell by the "dobbing" that the triangle plate had been welded on a new shaft. It certainly wasn't an IH weld job, but at least I had all the pieces. Since it had been replaced, maybe it was rusted solid at some time. Sure makes a difference when using a rear blade to have the swing locked.
