Mark - The alternator light will not work with a 1-wire alternator. (The purpose of one of the auxiliary wires on a 3-wire alternator is control the warning light). So if you want to keep an eye on the electrical system best to install a voltmeter in the dash.
The oil light should be straightforward. The circuit runs from a switched pole on the ignition switch (IGN or ACC) to the dash light then to the pressure switch.
To test, with the ignition "on" ground the terminal at the pressure switch. If the oil light comes on the pressure switch is bad. But if the light stays dark, problem is in the wiring or the dash lamp itself.
