Hi Mel, the 454 Diesel could be assembled in USA but D-179 Diesel engine was made in Neuss Germany, main frame axles/trans/diff/torque tube were made in Doncaster UK.
Re 3pt leaking down could be lift cylinder or 3pt lift control valve leaking. Problem is only a nuisance, must remember to lower 3pt implement before shutting engine off, sometimes hydraulic will jerk up if really bad leak. My brother has 454 that has 3pt leak down for at least 25 years now with no other problems.
The big problems with those models of tractors is the Operator forgets to release the parking brake and drives tractor with parking brake engaged and the parking brake band gets chewed up in the transmission. The bits of chewed up brake band ends up clogging up hydraulic filter and other small hydraulic orifices. Later models have a flashing park brake engaged lamp on the dash.
