I was replacing the front wheel bearings on a double front B. When I took the left wheel off, I noticed that there wasn't an oil seal ring. So I went ahead and took all the old stuff out and put in new races. When I went to put in the new oil seal ring, I could tell it wasn't going to fit. It is too big to fit into the hub. I am certain that if I try to pound it in, I am going to bend the ring. The ring for the right wheel went in just fine.
My question is do I really need to have the oil seal ring on the spindle? Everything seemed to be fine before I went to replace the bearings, so maybe it isn't an essential part to have?
