IH did make a tractor that used an intermediate shaft with two different size ends but I don't remember which one it was. When installing a PTO attachment to new 1586 we would use that shaft along with a PTO kit for a 1086.
Other than finding that shaft the easiest solution is to use a dual speed PTO that is the same style as the single speed that you have and simply swap the input shafts on the front of the PTO assemblies. That will also give you the opportunity to inspect the PTO clutch plates.
