The case ih paint is a modified aklyd enamel. Its pretty close to the old dupont dulux enamel from the thrilling days of yesteryear. It is a slow dry compared to the high performance urethanes used today. If applied to heavy, or to cold, it loves to run. Big runs. For your first coat, apply a tack coat. Just enough to get color on. It will be kind of transparent. Let it tack up, put a second medium coat on to get a pretty good color and complete coverage. Let it tack good, and for the third coat , a nice wet coat with good gloss. Too heavy, it runs, to light, dull shine.
