I am a service tech for a Case-IH dealer in central South Dakota. One morning I came to work, there was a truck outside our shop that had broken down that was carrying a 4300. After a lengthy, most interesting coversation with the guy, he said he was from Kansas & still farmed with these tractors (he had 2 already, 1 for parts) and he found this one in Alberta, Canada. He said he had very good luck with these behemoths, that's why he got another one. They have a UD-817 engine that put out 300HP. I believe he said he had a 12-bottom FULLY MOUNTED plow for these tractors. This thing had an enormous 3 point-hitch & when I asked him if the front-end got a little light, he said no & walked me up to the front end where he shown me the great big "counterweght" (for lack of a better term) under the engine area. What I could not believe was how well the appearnce inside the cab looked(considering it being a 1960-era tractor.) It had sound-padding, well-laid out controls, not the crude-looking interior on factory 806-1206 cabs. It looked to me like this tractor was well ahead of its time, that must be why there were not many built. Just thought I would share my experience down memory lane with you gentlemen.
