ckperson, Welcome to YT. Well as You have figured out, You are in Possession of a very large Memento of you Dads, Un-like a Watch or a Pocket Knife, Both very nice items of ones Dad to have and to hold. It can't be stored away in a drawer or Jewelry box. It is Red, very large, and weighs roughly 10,000lbs. No, you can't really hold it in the palm of your hand like a Pocket Knife or a Watch and Think of Your Dad.
But Sit in the Seat, and Listen to that Big Engine Scream at high Idle... while driving down the road, or Shredding weeds in a pasture or plowing a field.... Hear your Dad "Retell" You the Important things he said..... or just feel close to him now that he is gone! It is a Strange thing, Here ,where Tractors.....No matter the Color, size, Make connect us to our past, Mom, Dad, G-mother, G-Dad....Tractors Rule!
Yes as others have said and I will say again, Your Local Case-IH Dealer can get most any part needed, or the multitude of tractor wrecking yard can locate parts too, as far as Manuel s they have them, or at Tractor Supply there is a rack of Tractor manuels too. Something to get started with!
The 806 is Truly one of IHs best tractors ever made It was IHs first 100 hp tractor it was meant to compete against the John Deere 4010.And it Did Very Well!!! It has stood the test of time, wear, weather,,,,Kinda like a Timex watch....Takes a Lick-in and keeps on Tick-in!
The Folks here on YT have a vast Volumes of Knowledge of yrs of Running, Working on, Servicing, Painting,,, You name it. So post up Your questions Here for specific IH tractor question or a more general question on Tractor Talk!. As you read you will gain more and more knowledge that will make your Ownership of your Dads 806 and enjoyable experience.
Also,
There are not many weeks that go by that someone is trying to locate a specific family tractor that Dad or G-Dad had and sold at a farm sale many yrs ago, don't sell it, You will regret it at some point.
Hope this helps,
Later,
John A.

Today's Featured Article - When Push Comes to Shove - by Dave Patterson. When I was a “kid” (still am to a deree) about two I guess, my parents couldn’t find me one day. They were horrified (we lived by the railroad), my mother thought the worst: "He’s been run over by a train, he’s gone forever!" Where did they find me? Perched up on the seat of the tractor. I’d probably plowed about 3000 acres (in my head anyway) by the time they found me. This is where my love for tractors started and has only gotten worse in my tender 50 yrs on this “green planet”. I’m par ... [Read Article]
