If it is humid, or if the cap is old and even a little humid, it can condense inside the cap and the hot coil will take easy path to wrong places. Rotors can also be involved. Look for carbon tracking inside the cap. If nothing else, clean it well and use some WD40 (an actual Ok use for it) and see if it fixes it (temporarily) Jim
