Because I have been in that spot, The possible 2 degrees of play (in and even partially worn key results in 4 or 5 inches of travel in the handle. I put a roll pin in mine, and rebuilt the key to a larger size in another. Taking the handle and shaft to a machine shop for a full length key that is bigger than the original is a good solution. Jim
