Your bungee cord is to weak. Joking aside some things to check. Some you need to remove the belt pulley gear box and some the trans cover. Play or bad bearing where the trans main shaft pilots into the input shaft. Also check the input shaft for play. Splines worn on the input shaft where the 4th and 5th slider gear engages the shaft, also the teeth condition of the 4th and 5th slider where it locks to the input shaft. Weak spring or worn ball that holds the shift fork in place or worn or bent shift fork. With no load on the transmission you may be able to get a idea about the detent balls, springs or slot by seeing if the pressure to move shift lever from third to neutral is about the same as moving shifter from 5th to neutral. Fifth to neutral is usually a little less pressure.
