What kind of soil are you on. On heavier soil here I pull a 720 5 bottom 16 inch plow with my 986. Most guys run 5 bottom 18 inch plows with a 1086 here. A 15 foot or 16 foot disc with the 986 and a 18 foot on up to a 21 foot disc with a 1086. Pretty good tractors either way so individual history will be the largest factor. The TA if the tractor has a lot of hours or has been abused is something to watch for. No synchronized shift which puts them at somewhat of a disadvantage against newer tractors.
