i also have a 986 and a 1466,i have looked at 1086's but never got one. if you do not need the hp of the 1086 i would go with the 986 as i use mine to plant corn jd7000 6-30,bale with a NH 278 square baler and spay with a 500 gal 60 foot booms and have no problem. i myself alway like to have more hp than less and if need i go to the 1466,1570 or the 2470. form a plow stand point as i am looking to get a mole borad plow for turning under hay ground been looking at 4-16 plows. and i agree with one of the other posters said is that the 1086 get turned up then run harder than what the were intended for. one other thing i did, was mine did not have any weights on it and added 800 lbs on the front and 100 lbs on the rear wheels, it settled it down some on rough ground. good luck
