If you work through my Troubleshooting Procedure it can help diagnose the cause (genny or VR or wiring or grounds etc) of non charging.
See my Para 5: If dead grounding the gennys FLD post makes her charge but NOT otherwise, the VR isnt well grounded or bad (ON VR syatem) or the light switch is bad or has a bad ground on the cutout relay systems or wires bad from genny up to switch.
PS that system shown is NOT a VR, its a cutout relay system where the light switch regulates charge rate low or high. It MUST have a good frame ground to work!!!!!!!
