I replaced all the tie rod ball seats with new ones. Rather than build the worn tie rod balls up with weld and then try to mate them to the brand new seats, I went ahead, cut the worn balls off and welded on one inch carbon steel ball bearings in their place. A flat was machined on the bearings to cut through the hardended surface, a 1/8 hole drilled in, and a corresponding hole was drilled in the tie rods and steering arms. A 1/8 dia rod was put in to span the joints and the parts were welded up. It's as smooth as glass.
