Dairy farmer I use to work for had a 2555 Deere that the starter locked the engine. We tried to pull it and the tractor twisted so much that the one back wheel came off the ground and it pulled the 4440 down some. So yes it can happen if I remember right we took the starter out and it was parked on the barn ramp for about a week before he got the starter back from being rebuilt
