Did you remove the starter and the bolt into the engine inside the hole? Also a dowel pin is on each side that it helps to remove them first if they are really tight in the hole. They look like the threaded end of a bolt sticking out of the front side of the steel engine plate. One way on moving the engine, frame rails and bolsters away from the center housing is to put some dowel pins or long bolts in the frame rails to housing holes, one on a side. Move apart enough to install 2 or 4 bolts and a nut back in the rails to steel plate. Them finish moving apart.
