Need to know a little more. Are you saying you pull ta lever back and tractor stops moving while you hear a grinding noise. If so, over running clutch (ramp & rollers) are shot. If you mean when tractor is not moving (in neutral with engine running) and it grinds when you pull lever back, the fingers are worn so much in pins that throw out bearing contacts dry clutch. An adjustment might get you by for a while in that case but doubtful .
