Sounds to me like you need to consider purchasing an engine overhaul kit. If you change the dimensions as your post indicates that you are considering I am afraid that you will have piston slap. From memory, about 3.5 thousandths of an inch is the proper clearance between the piston diameter and the cylinder bore. Since you have pits in the wall you will have increased oil consumption as is.
