Thanks for the ideas. As a followup to all posts. First I have not had time to work on the unit. I have to finish this job asap so am using the backup tractor.
I had replaced the pin last year when I rebuilt the unit. To the point made by Bob and Mazemeister. The pto still turns but intermittent and weak. With the pin broken (27) I would get no rotation Correct?
To the point made by mazemeister and the tractor vet. I was on a turn when the unit quit. The CV joint was chattering a bit. If the snap ring came off would I get any rotation on the pto? I am noticing about 1/16 inch movement backwards of the pto shaft when I engage the pto. Now the pto engages everytime. The mower is 20 miles away so have no way to test how strong the pto is turning. The first of next week I hope to have time to put a pressure gage on the unit.
