Had a guy buy one of my tractors last year. Had it shipped from Michigan to Kansas. Not sure what the costs were.
Experience was good, but you're paying for the man and his truck. Could use your truck and take a big bite out of the cost of a new trailer hauling it yourself. Consider it a vacation of sorts.
Lessons learned:
Driver didn't want to sit around and chat. Have the tractor all packaged up & ready to go. Tie loose things down. Wrap things not wanting to get wet. Run the gas tank down low & turn off the gas once on the trailer. Remove the muffler & secure to the tractor somewhere (muffler mounts were not made to travel at 75MPH). Allow him to secure it, but watch that he is doing it correctly.
