Jim - It's OK if the warning light draws more than 200 milliamps. But be aware of this: If the warning lamp draws more than about 1 amp (=1,000 milliamps), it will allow enough backfeed current thru the coil with the engine coasting and the ignition switch off to fire the coil. Net result is the engine will keep right on running after you turn the ignition switch off. Your idea to use a resistor in parallel with the warning light is a good one - that's how the warning light's wired up in many older GM cars in fact. A resistor rated at 50 to 60 ohms, and 5 watts or higher should work fine. Bob M
