The bypass filter was also used on the 6 cyl motor truck engine that the 4 and 560 engine is based off. I remember installing a new short block in I believe a A-160 truck and it came with a NEW full flow filter kit. It was not installed in the exact same position as the 560 as there was not room or something and it used a hose coming out of the block right from the oil pump. It was not long before IH developed a one piece base and hose was eliminated. Hey, we went through the dry air filter business with that truck also. Found the design was inadequate and co. retrofitted it back to oil bath. Was a few more years that motor truck went back to dry air filters again. The 560 had a good filter and relief valve system but poor oil drain back feature. IH redesigned the base yet again, used those poorly designed fiber wafers to regulate pressure, bypass and drain back so troubles with oil pressure started all over again. Oh the joys of progress.
