Good thing you weren't able to buy new knotters for the thing! Even if you could have, they would cost you many times what the baler would be worth AFTER it was fixed!!!
Spending $2000 to fix a $500 baler (example) is just plain foolish any way you look at it.
You're better off finding a complete working baler and either scrapping this one or parting it out for others who may have an old 68 baler they're trying to keep alive.
