Hi Merlin, Since you have fire at the points that part is working. When the points close then that colapes the field inside the coil sending out a high voltage spark to the distributor tower. So pull the coil wire and test to ground to see if spark is there, if spark then test the plug wire for spark, if not then fire is not going thru the cap and rotor. Had to type this all out to get this straight in my mind not to say you don't know how it works!
