You can remove the old square lugs from an old rim and move them over to a new rim. The old lugs were held on by rivets. These can be removed with a torch or determined effort with a cold chisel and large hammer. I welded mine to the new rim using cast iron rods (Nickel/Cadmium) and a carbon arc welder. I bolted the lugs to the cast center prior to welding to get proper alignment. The blank rim I was able to buy was (as best as I could tell) exactly like the rim I was replacing and by moving the lugs over I was able to maintain the tire width spacing the same for the new rim and the old rim I was able to salvage from the other side. I only needed to replace one of two. DO NOT USE A TORCH OR WELDER ON ANY MOUNTED TIRE RIM OR LUGS IF YOU WISH TO GROW OLD GRACEFULLY. A torch or welder and a mounted rubber tire are a fatal combination (it does not even have to be inflated and may in fact have holes but it can still be explosive.)
