well it could be a faulty injector also, they can make a real hard knocking sound if not atomizing the fuel. to be sure its not a rod better check for clearance by removing them or at least giving them a shake to see if one is loose. just visually looking is somtimes hard to tell. usually they will turn blue from the heat also.the screen being plugged is not good as it could be starving for oil. once the brg. is hot and worn out breakage usually will happen if continued to run engine.
