Just got done baling my first hay crop on the new farm. At dad's place the field is nice and smooth with no washouts, this farm has some washouts that are giving me trouble with raking. If I set the rake to clean the field the basket will hit the ground and lockup when I am going through the washouts. If I raise it a bit it gets the basket to at least keep turning when it gets a high spot, but when I get to a light spot in the field I am leaving some hay behind. Eventually the washouts will be evened out but for now would having a caddy on the front of the rake help? It is an old New Idea 4 bar rake, are all the caddies universal or are they brand and model specific? Thanks!
