I have this on my 1942 H. It was a option on the 1942 and it is super rare to find them.
I believe it was called a "Christmas Tree" valve.
There should be a rod connecting the control lever to the transmission on the right side.
This was used to control at least two separate hydraulic devices. The one that I have is operable and operates the rear lift (for the three point).
This amazing little option was designed so that you could hook up at least one more set of hydraulics just by using standard pipe fittings you could get in a hardware store, and, standard hydraulic lines.
You operate it by pulling the lever back to release hydraulic pressure to the device. If you want to divert hydraulic pressure to a device, then, you push down on the lever and move it completely forward in the slot.
I am not sure why it has three slots (yet). I just ordered the original parts supplement for the Farmall H and I"ll keep you posted. I think, as far as I can tell, that the middle slot is a neutral position for the lever.
