Have you started it? If he was using it to mow, does it have a belly mower? With a belly mower, generally you can get around 1500 around here (Indiana). Still, they are great tractors. While they are very inexpensive right now, I believe the value of them will climb significantly in the years to come, especially when compared to what's offered any more. I don't know your needs, but I'd recommend keeping it if you do many chores around your new land. The new tractors are fine, but they don't really handle the rigors of time very well and don't handle heavier chores (pulling carts, wagons or small trees) nearly as well as something like an SA. You might be glad you kept it for odd jobs in the years to come.
Regardless, this is one of the best free/inexpensive places to sell an old farmall. Craigslist is also a good start to sell something like a tractor, due to the localized nature.
