My father in law told me that when they used to buy M's for the farm back in the day they used to remove the fenders and battery box under the gas tank immediately because they used the tractors daily and the fenders made it difficult to get on and off the tractor and the battery boxes were in a horrible spot so changing batteries/unhooking cables, was a real pain...we have stacks of fenders in the barn from all of the M's we used to use.
